Camping can be a labor-intensive hobby if you don’t have a good system for packing!
Ideally, most of your gear and equipment will be stored together, so when you are angsty to get back out into nature- most of the work is done. It would be only a simple matter of running through your packing list to make sure you have everything!
Once you add a baby into the mix, camping can be even more intimidating! I’m here to reassure you, it’s worth it. It will never go perfectly, but the memories you make will stay with your family forever. Someone shared a quote with me that was something like, “Don’t stop doing the things you love just because you have kids. Do the things you love, and bring your kids with you. So they will learn to love the things you love also.”

Theo loves camping for some different reasons than we do. Like, he enjoys munching on rocks and sticks and dirt. But we also love camping for some of the same reasons as him. Like, the quality family time and isn’titcoolthatwearesleepinginaglowingdome and basking in nature. Nature is good, nature is natural, nature is necessary.
We live on the western slope of the Rockies in Colorado. We hit the ground running our first summer with Theo and squeezed in 3 camping trips right away. Each time, we felt more prepared. Each time, we found more things to love about camping with our boy.
Let’s get to the point of why you are here! I have compiled, edited, and rearranged this packing list. I use it when I pack Theo, and so it is always a work in progress. Currently, this is what has worked with us for camping with Theo during his first year of life. I hope it helps you as well! I have everything listed here, but there is also a PDF download at the bottom of the page. For the list below, I have some things linked to the specific product that we use! - Day clothes (1-2 outfits/day in case of emergency clothes changing)

- Extra wet bag
- Baby monitor, camera, and charger (optional for if you have electric hook-up)
- Diapers for daytime
- Overnight diapers
- Cloth wipes
- Water wipes
- Warm blankets (1-2)

- Benadryl
- Saline drops
- Thermometer
- Sun hat (lots of cute patterns and many sizes)
- Light zip-up jacket
- Sound machine – 2 options: Hatch if you have an electric hook-up or a portable one if you don’t have electricity
- Young Living sunscreen or ThinkBaby sunscreen
- Young Living bug spray
- Easy to clean toys (5-8)
- Snow suit (optional for cold weather)
- Beanie (optional for cold weather)
Meal Time
- Burp cloths
- Sippy cups
- Snacks (bring more than you think you need)
- Kiddo spoon, fork, plate
- Toothbrush/toothpaste
- Kiddo lotion
- If bottle feeding: bottles, milk, small travel cooler, cleaner brush for bottles, bottle warmer
- If breast feeding: boobs
